system. Simple, Safe and Sound
The VCF-System has proven
its capabilities under extreme conditions, for instance when the SAGA
Petroleum well 2/4-14 in the Ekofisk oil field had a near blow-out.
Pressure at the well-head in 70 m of water varied from 300 to 1000
bar, while the rig swayed some 1 m in all directions, such that an
extra strong riser was required. It was built from pipe 420 by 70
mm and had compact flange joints designed by VERAX. It worked perfectly
and the operation became a complete success.
